Starting the process of therapy

In starting the process of therapy, you are enabling the possibility of powerful, self-directed change. This could be in relation to coping and working with tricky emotional states such as anxiety, depression and anger or,  just to work on building healthier relationship dynamics. You might also be going through a tough period due to the external pressures/consequences of modern life. In any case, the purpose of psychotherapy is to work collaboratively in order to support the client to live more meaningfully and generally feel happier and have more control.

The therapists at Green Space Psychology provide a warm, emphatic, non-judgmental space from which you can explore. An individualised (pluralistic) process is adopted to help provide the best support, whilst still being rigorous and evidence-based in approach.

Compassion Focused Therapy (CFT)

Green Space Psychology is home to highly skilled and experienced therapists based in Hull, East Yorkshire who have worked with a variety of difficulties and disorder presentations. Our therapists are trained in evidence based psychological therapies, but we specialise in Compassion Focused Therapy (CFT)


Compassion Focused Therapy (CFT) is a dynamic and innovative  psychological therapy developed in the UK and is rapidly gaining support as a powerful way of working with common life difficulties, emotional distress and a variety of mental health problems. Often misunderstood, the compassion component is based upon the principles of being sensitive to our own and others' distress and learning how to proactively alleviate it.


CFT is a truly integrative, psychological model, which uses the understanding of neuro-scientific emotional systems to help you develop a greater understanding of your experiences and an awareness of how they connect  to your emotions in the context of your past/present. All of which enables mindful-change to take place.

coaching and Business Packages

At our service there is the opportunity for individuals to develop a better emotional and motivational balance through a compassionate mind training programme. This package enables a space for clients to mindfully navigate personal and professional development to step into a more grounded, committed and assertive sense of self. The programme is based on self-understanding and the science of personality and emotion. By analysing what works for people generally, a plan can then be formulated to help tackle development areas and hone in on personal strengths to create a future that is more in line with your values and feels more satisfying.


We have experience of working with business leaders, in supplying bespoke packages (including a range of interventions and psychometric testing) to improve efficiency and employee satisfaction within the workplace, as well as offering mental health/counselling  and indivdualised personal development work directly as part of the service.
